PLC PU Control

Pasteurization is a method to preserve your product by temperature treatment. The process is a combination of time and temperature, and the level of pasteurization is measured in PUs = Pasteurization Units.

PU Control is a term used to describe a control system that secures pasteurization of the containers in a tunnel pasteurizer.

PU Control is based on a model estimating the product temperature and algorithms to minimize excess PUs while always guaranteeing the minimum PU requirement.

But it is much more: It is also the machine operation, the alarm handling, the utility optimization and the interaction with operators and the rest of the line.

Especially the “modelling and algorithms” have typically been handled in a PC as it requires a lot of computer power and was best implemented in compiled code from high-level programming. BUT – with the increased capabilities of industrial PLCs a black-box PC is no longer needed for that.

Our PLC PU Control is building on several earlier generations of PU Controls. Every time valuable experience has been gained and all contribute to today’s solution:

A lean architecture that provides a large configurable standard core while still supporting a flexible structure for making project specific adaptations to meet machine and customer requirements.
